Morouj fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher thanks to Caritas Czech Republic in Iraq

Morouj Yunis, a 24-year-old woman from Mosul, Iraq, always wanted to become a teacher. After graduating from the College of Education, she applied to many places, but unfortunately, all the responses were negative. Nevertheless, Morouj was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher after participating in the On-the-Job Training project organized by Caritas Czech Republic in Iraq. Thanks to the training, Morouj is more assertive and no longer afraid of interacting with people.

Eman Hameed, a 41-year-old woman from the Anbar Governorate in Iraq, wanted to become a seamstress since she was a little girl after watching her neighbours sew their clothes. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned., When ISIS attacked her town in 2014, Eman was forced to flee her home, unable to take her sewing machine with her. Today, Eman is a successful seamstress and has turned her childhood dream into a reality.

I can finally grow vegetables again, despite ISIS, says Ziyad from Iraq

Ziyad from Iraq had been a farmer all his life until ISIS drove him from his farm. His burnt and devastated farm has now been rebuilt thanks to the help of Caritas Czech Republic. His tomatoes, olives and cucumbers are now feeding him again. In addition, he gives work to other Iraqis.

Nabil trained to be a carpenter and now runs his own firm

Nabil Nihad Jiyad is a 27-year-old man from the Al-Baghdadi district in Iraq. He is married and lives with his wife in an unfinished house, that he does not own. Since he was a little boy, Nabil dreamed of opening his own carpentry shop for riverboats. But after the arrival of ISIS, he could not find any job, let alone start his own business. Thanks to Caritas Czech Republic and UNDP, Nabil now has his own general carpentry and riverboat carpentry shop.

Thaer's dream of working in the cooling and air conditioning maintenance business came true

Tháer Hazem Aziz, a 25-year-old newlywed, is also a father-to-be. Despite the fact that he was born and raised in Ramadi, he and his family live Al-Heet today. He was studying before ISIS attacked, but after ISIS he sometimes would his father fix heaters, refrigerators, and cookers. Thaer was unemployed before to enrolling in the Livelihood Initiative, but he had a strong interest in refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment repair and wanted to learn more about it. Thaer was able to work in this field thanks to the Caritas Czech Republic and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
