The primary healthcare center in Kabarto 1 camp stopped providing services and consultations to the IDPs after the government fund was cut. Many families suffered from the lack of adequate access to healthcare services as there was no other close center which they could reach easily and benefit from.

The primary healthcare center in Kabarto 1 camp has skilled medical staff who provide different services and consultations. There are general practitioners, dentists, nurses, midwives, laboratory nurses and doctors, and pharmacists. Many IDPs from the camp and other surrounding camps benefit from all what is provided.

Mediation was a big challenge, but an effective one to resolve many serious disputes

Mediation is one of the alternative dispute resolution mechanisms which is widely used around the globe. There are many house, land and property (HLP) disputes which had caused violent acts within the community. Shahir Chomar is one of the 14 mediators who had been chosen to be part of the HLP disputes mediation project in Telkaif district in Nineveh. He also attended a training on identifying and addressing HLP disputes that an international certified mediator conducted that CCR employed.

Hope lightened the lives of Al Hamdaniyeh people after the war’s darkness

ISIL control over the Nineveh province, early 2014, caused huge displacement for the local population who had to seek shelter in other governorates in Iraq, especially in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). People returning to the district of Al Hamdaniyeh remain vulnerable since there is extensive damage of infrastructure and houses in the area. They also lack the basic services they need for their daily life. Moreover, the circumstances they had been through often forced them to rearrange their priorities to put shelter and food over education and healthcare.

People of Al Hamdaniyeh can go back to their hometown after the war

In Iraq, the war with ISIL had been harsh on people. It forced them to leave their houses and everything else behind. After the clashes were over, many of them faced another challenge which was returning to their destroyed houses. One family of ten from Al Hamdaniyeh was in this exact situation, but they were able to rebuild their house thanks to the support of Caritas Czech Republic.
