What we do

We help where we are needed. We provide immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by war or natural disaster. As part of our development cooperation, we help people to cut loose and make a living. We focus on the development of health care and social protection as well as  rural development and environmental protection and actively work on systemic changes in Iraq.

Volunteering opens new doors for us, says Adéla Procházková

Adéla Procházková is the executive assistant at the Department of Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation at Caritas Czech Republic. Among other things, she is there to help volunteers and interns. As she says herself, volunteering is one of the ways to participate in shaping positive values in society. Kamal launched his own sweets shop in the Al-Kubaisa sub-district

Kamal Hadi Sahab is a 43-year-old man, originally from the Al Heet district's Al-Kubaisa sub-district of Iraq. He lives with his family and has three children, two sons and a girl. Before the ISIS attack on the area, Kamal worked as a daily wage laborer in a local factory. After returning, he worked as a selfemployeed. Kamal had always wanted to open his own sweets factory in the region but he lacked the money to do so. Thanks to Caritas Czech Republic and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), he was finally able to launch his confectionery business.
