Full name: Baseline survey and organization and delivery of vocational training for unemployed returnees in construction and related sectors in Ayadhiya town, Galzal Giow village, and Kaser Al-Mehrab village in Tel Afar District

The project is focused on the most vulnerable category of persons living in Ayadhiya town, Galzal Giow village and Kaser Al-Mehrab in Tel Afar district, i.e. returnee families whose lives and livelihoods were distressed due to displacement and return movements. In October 2019, the Iraqi Government consolidated the majority of IDP camps spread in Iraqi Governorates (except Kurdistan Region of Iraq) aiming to have IDPs returning to their areas of origin by the end of the year 2020. Project Goal: Increase economic self-reliance of returnees and expand the wider community’s ownership of the on-going reconstruction efforts as a key to peaceful recovery and resilience in Tel Afar district. The Project aims to contribute to wider efforts of UN-Habitat to facilitate sustainable returns, urban recovery and peacebuilding in Western Ninewa, implemented through the program “Support for Urban Recovery and Peacebuilding in Western Ninewa, Iraq”. More specifically, the project will contribute to the outcome 3: Provide vocational training and job placement.
