More IDPs have access to the healthcare center in Kabarto 1 Camp, Duhok

The primary healthcare center in Kabarto 1 camp has skilled medical staff who provide different services and consultations. There are general practitioners, dentists, nurses, midwives, laboratory nurses and doctors, and pharmacists. Many IDPs from the camp and other surrounding camps benefit from all what is provided.

Ahmad, 47 years old, is a general practitioner who has been working at the healthcare center for three years. He provides medical treatment to patients of different ages, and psychological support to those who are not feeling emotionally well.

‘The quality of services and treatment has become ideal.’

As he has been working in the center for a long while, he has noticed difference in the quality of services provided to the patients after CCR has started running it. There is significant increase in the number of patients who seek treatment there. ‘The quality of services and treatment has become ideal after CCR started running the center. There is also major increase in the number of patients we have every day,’ he says. But, this has caused a challenge as the reception hall is not big enough for the patients. He says, ‘The only problem we daily face is because of the small reception hall we have.’

Sometimes, he has the chance to socialize with the patients to check how they feel when they are in the center, and how satisfied and content they are with what is offered to them. He says ‘I can say they are satisfied with the services; their health situation and well-being are getting better. This also improves their living conditions and social life.’

This project was implemented in partnership with Secours Catholique – Caritas France. There are around 14,000 IDPs who benefit from the provided services at the center. The center provides free clinical consultations, reproductive health services, laboratory tests and medical supplies to the IDPs who live in Kabarto 1 camp and other near camps. Also, the Directorate of Health in Duhok has a major role in achieving the project’s objectives.
