After 10 successful years in Iraq, Caritas Czech Republic is closing its operations in the country

Caritas Czech Republic has been active in Iraq since 2015, initially providing immediate humanitarian aid in response to the crises caused by prolonged armed conflicts, notably the invasion by ISIS, which displaced millions of Iraqis. Over time, our focus has shifted towards more sustainable forms of assistance, aiming to help individuals rebuild their livelihoods and create new employment opportunities.

During the years we supported the restoration of agricultural activities by providing farmers with seeds, equipment, and necessary training, as well as empowering women to integrate into the economy. In addition to economic support, Caritas Czech Republic addresses the needs of internally displaced persons by ensuring access to adequate shelter.

During the years we helped people to restore their livelihood, we helped to build the emergency shelters for the most vulnerable people in Iraq and we helped people get back on their feet. A big thank you to our donors and partners, without whom our work would not be possible.

In 2025, all existing projects will be concluded, and the Caritas Czech Republic office in Iraq will be closed. Current information and other news about our work in other parts of the world you can find our website.
